Chester made good progress this week. He is now 1040 grams and 38 cm. After starting the week with a belly full of gas, the doctors made some changes. He is on a different breathing device called a NOVA that looks at the movement of his diaphragm and only gives him extra breaths if he needs them. This blows less air into him overall and puts him more in control. He really likes this setup and they are easing him off this support. After that change, Chester’s belly got much smaller and he went from no breastmilk to 4 ml an hour. He also got a more comfortable nose peice and thought it was so great that he opened his eyes wide open! Now he likes to look at Mommy and Daddy during cares, even though they are just blobs. Chester is an active guy and likes to grab fingers, grab at wires, and does the downward dog pose. Mommy and Daddy are excited that they get to snuggle with him everyday now and are looking forward to him getting all.of his nutrition from fortified breastmilk.

  1. Ohhhhh myyy. Made me cry (I cry at happy things – not sad!). Super proud of him and that he is able to also communicate his likes and dislikes with you. You GO! Chester!
